Zack Reser, Five More Beavers Honored By Pac-12 Academically

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon State redshirt freshman Zack Reser has been named to the Pac-12 Conference's All-Academic Second-Team, while Ryan Barnes, Jake Rodriguez, John Tommasini, Ben Wetzler and Taylor Starr were all named honorable mention.
The squad was announced Wednesday by league commissioner Larry Scott.
Reser majors in business and played in 10 games for the Beavers in 2012, going 0-0. He recorded four strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.
For Barnes, it is his second career honorable mention selection after earning the honor in 2011. He's majoring in business and played in 58 games in 2012, batting .284 with 13 doubles and two home runs.
Rodriguez is majoring in criminal justice and played in 53 games, batting .290 with eight doubles and two home runs. Tommasini, meanwhile, concludes his OSU career with his first selection. An exercise and sports science major, he played in 56 games, batting .219.
Wetzler and Starr played key roles for the Beavers on the mound. Wetzler was 8-2 during the year, posting a 3.10 earned run average in 16 starts. He's a physical education major. Starr, meanwhile, pitched in 18 games, starting seven, and went 5-2 with a 4.37 ERA. He's a sociology major with an option in criminology.
