Last Game
Ryan Barnes drove in the game-winning run on a safety squeeze in the sixth inning to send the Beavers to a 2-1 win over Belmont Friday afternoon. The win opened up OSU's trip to the Baton Rouge Regional.
Regional Info
Oregon State's win Saturday was the Beavers' seventh consecutive NCAA Regional opening victory, dating back to 2005. OSU is 3-3 in the second game of NCAA Regionals dating back to that year.
Barnes Continues
Ryan Barnes had two of the Beavers' three hits Friday to lead the club. The junior now has 15 multiple-hit games on the year after finishing with nine in 2011. In fact, as a team, OSU has 139 multi-hit games as a team, up from 130 in 60 games a year ago.
Versus The SEC
With Saturday's matchup against LSU, the Beavers will have played at least one Southeastern Conference school every year dating back to 2008. The Beavers are 11-9 all-time against the SEC and will meet LSU for the first time.
Score Two Runs ... Get A Win?
Oregon State's 2-1 win Friday was a milestone of sorts for the Beavers. The win was OSU's first when scoring two runs or less in a game this season, improving to 1-11. By contrast, the Beavers are 17-0 this season when allowing two runs or less.
Pat Casey All-Time At OSU
It was highly publicized that Pat Casey became OSU's winningest baseball coach last week against Oregon but he's also now the winningest coach regardless of sport at OSU. He surpassed Dale Thomas, who had 616 wins as the Beavers' wrestling coach.
Singles
OSU and host LSU have combined for three of the last six national titles.
OSU is 21-12 away from Goss Stadium this season, including a 15-11 mark in true road games.
The Beavers have gone eight consecutive games without committing an error. OSU is 7-1 in those games.
