Emergency Action Plan for Swimming Facilities
Venue Directions: The swimming practice facility is located at two different sites; Langton Hall and Osborn Aquatic Center. Langton Hall is located at 2450 Jefferson Way. The pool is in the basement, room 125. The Osborn Aquatic Center is off campus at 1940 NW Highland Dr, Corvallis, OR 97330. Each of these practices are covered by the facility lifeguards only. If an emergency situation should arise the emergency action plans for each of these facilities would be followed by the lifeguards on duty at that time.
Swimming competitions are located at Steven's Natatorium in the Dixon Recreation Center. Dixon Recreation Center is located at 425 SW 26th Ave. All swimming competitions are covered by lifeguards employed through the Dixon Recreation Center along with the certified athletic trainer. If an emergency shall arise the athletic trainer on duty will work with assigned lifeguard to implement Dixon Recreations Emergency Action Plan.
Emergency Personnel:
- Lifeguard for practices
- Certified athletic trainer and athletic training student(s) on site for swim meets.
Emergency Communication:
- Cell Phone carried by certified athletic trainer.
- Fixed telephone line in the Lifeguard station at the Dixon Pool: (541) 737-3736. Must dial 9 to dial out.
Emergency Equipment:
- AED, first aid supplies and splints located at the lifeguard station at each facility.
Role of First Responders:
- Establish scene safety and immediate care of the athlete.
- Emergency equipment retrieval, as needed.
- Activate Emergency Medical System (EMS).
- Direct EMS to the scene. An athletic training student or other team personnel will meet EMS at the appropriate entrance and direct them to the scene.
