Beavers Finish Season Ranked at No. 17

June 1, 2012
The Oregon State men’s varsity 8 was ranked No. 17 in the final USRowing Collegiate poll put out by row2k.com recently.
The Beavers’ varsity crew, who were ranked No. 20 entering the Pac-12 Championships in May, finished fourth at the conference regatta covering the 2,000-meter course in 6-minutes, 4.7 seconds an impressive enough time to move up three spots from the previous poll.
It is the second straight year OSU ended the season ranked 17th in the nation. This year, the Beavers managed to stay in contention for a berth at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships until the final weekend of the regular season despite returning only one rower from last year’s first boat.
In 2012, Oregon State posted impressive victories over the University of Victoria, Gonzaga and UC San Diego. In addition, the Beavers’ novice crew earned a bronze medal finish at the Pac-12 Championships and tallied wins over Stanford in addition to Gonzaga and UCSD.
