Steve McCoy joined the Oregon State athletic staff in 1998 as the Director of Athletic Equipment apparel and operations after a lengthy stint in the Canadian Football League. "Lightning" as he is known in OSU circles handles the complete purchasing of all athletic department equipment assets. He facilitates the ordering and delivery of the product between manufacturer and the individual teams.
McCoy is the point person for the introductions of new products and apparel to the coaches and administration, while maintaining the guidelines designed by the sponsors and teams. He has been an instrumental link in developing and expanding the relationships between OSU and Nike.
McCoy came to OSU after working as the equipment coordinator for the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe and the Ottawa Rough Riders of the CFL. He also has served in a similar capacity for the Hamilton Tiger Cats and Toronto Argonauts. In addition, McCoy has experience as an athletic trainer in college hockey, junior hockey and indoor lacrosse.
He is a 1989 graduate of Sheridan College in Ontario with a diploma in athletic therapy.
Steve's wife Bernie is a Sales and Marketing Associate for Olufson Designs in Corvallis. They have one Daughter, Alexandrea, who is a sophomore at the University of Oregon majoring in journalism with a minor in women gender studies.
