Last Game
Ryan Dunn hit a single to the left center gap in the bottom of the 10th to drive in the game-winning run in a 5-4 win over No. 12 Stanford on Sunday at Goss Stadium. The win gave the Beavers their first series win over Stanford at home since 2006. Dunn’s single narrowly evaded the glove of centerfielder Jake Stewart, driving in Joey Matthews from third after OSU had loaded the bases with two outs.
30-Win Plateau Again
The Beavers’ victory on Sunday was the club’s 30th of the season, putting OSU at that mark for the fourth consecutive season and eight of nine. Head coach Pat Casey has won at least 30 games in 13 of his 18 seasons at OSU.
Midweeks
The game against Oregon Tuesday is one of two remaining that are classified as midweek contests for the Beavers, with a May 15 game against Portland also on the schedule. The Beavers are 5-0 in games played on Monday or Tuesday this season, including a 4-0 record away from Goss Stadium.
Dunn’s Modest Streak
Ryan Dunn pounded out two hits in Sunday’s win to push his hit streak to six games. It’s his second-longest streak of the year behind a 12-gamer from March.
More Quality Starts
The OSU starting staff recorded three quality starts in the series victory over Stanford and the Beavers improved to 18-6 when that happens. Ben Wetzler, Jace Fry and Dan Child combined to allow 16 hits and five earned runs in 23 innings against the Cardinal for an ERA of 1.96.
Singles
• Head coach Pat Casey needs six wins to pass Jack Riley as the winningest coach in OSU history. Casey is currently sitting at 608 wins.
• The Beavers are 30-5 this season when scoring three or more runs. OSU is 68-15 over the last two seasons.
• Joey Matthews is 5-for-7 over his last two games. He has five multiple-hit efforts this season, which have all come over his last 11 games.
• OSU is 7-7 against top 25 clubs.
• The Beavers find themselves at fifth in the Pac-12 with .974 fielding percentage. OSU has committed just 15 errors since April 1, a 21-game stretch (the Beavers are 14-7 since then).
• OSU has scored first in its last nine games and is 6-3 during that stretch.
