Last Game
Michael Conforto hit a three-run home run in the third inning to break the Oregon State single-season RBI record with 69 as the Beavers gave Pat Casey his program-tying 613th win with a 7-5 victory over Washington State Sunday at Bailey-Brayton Field. Oregon State tallied 15 hits in the win, with Kavin Keyes, Ryan Dunn and Tyler Smith tying for the team lead with three apiece. Max Gordon also had two hits in the win as eight of nine Beavers in the lineup posted at least one.
TV Saturday
Saturday’s game will be broadcast live on KEZI 9.2 (channel 309 digital) in the Corvallis/Eugene region and ROOT Sports in the rest of the Northwest. It can also be seen nationally on FCS channel 415 (Comcast).
Hayes’ Award
Junior Danny Hayes enters the series with Oregon as the league’s reigning player of the week. He went 8-for-14 (.571) as the Beavers went 3-1 last week, driving in 10 on the strength of three home runs, a double and four walks.
Conforto’s Record
Michael Conforto became the first Beaver to break the single-season RBI record since Joe Gerber. Conforto’s 69 RBI this season places him second nationally and is two more than Gerber’s 67 in 2000. Thirty-four of Conforto’s 69 RBI (49 percent) have come in Pac-12 play while eight of his 13 home runs (62 percent) are against league foes.
Senior Day Saturday
Saturday has been designated as the club’s senior day and all four of the team’s honorees have played key roles for OSU in 2012. They are: John Tommasini, Taylor Starr, Ryan Gorton and Ryan Dunn.
Pat Casey Needs Just One
Pat Casey needs one win to surpass Jack Riley as the winngest coach in Oregon State history. Casey’s record is 613-374-4 in 18 seasons at OSU. It took Riley 22 years to reach 613 wins.
Singles
• Oregon State is 24-5 this season when Michael Conforto records at least one RBI.
• Ryan Dunn is second in the Pac-12 with 18 doubles.
• OSU is out-scoring its opponents by an average of 1.7 runs per game this season.
• Dan Child, Sunday’s starter, will play for Team USA this summer alongside Michael Conforto.
• OSU is 15-6 at home this season.
