Last Game
Danny Hayes paced Oregon State with two of the team’s season-high four home runs as they opened their three-game series at Bailey-Brayton with a 10-2 win over Washington State Friday night. Michael Conforto and Ryan Barnes also hit home runs for the Beavers, who surpassed their previous season high of three, accomplished three times and most recently in last weekend’s opener at Utah.
Hayes’ Streak
Danny Hayes hit his second and third home runs of the season on Friday to extend his hit streak to six games. He’s batting .667 (12-for-18) during his streak with two home runs and six RBI.
Conforto Pushes On
Michael Conforto had his 19th multiple-RBI game of the season Friday to give him 66 RBI overall on the year. That’s one shy of tying Joe Gerber (2000) for the most in a single season at OSU. Amazingly, Conforto has one more RBI than total hits this season.
Casey Going For 613
Pat Casey picked up win No. 612 on Friday and can tie Jack Riley for the most wins in an OSU uniform with a victory Saturday. Casey has a 612-373-4 (.621) record in 18 seasons at Oregon State.
Going For The Series Win
The Beavers are going for the series victory on Saturday and a win would put the Beavers at 6-3 in Pac-12 series this season. Oregon State was 7-2 in Pac-12 series when finishing in a tie for second in 2011.
The ‘Pen Is Sharp
The Oregon State bullpen worked 4 1/3 innings on Friday in the win and was solid, holding the Cougars to a run and two hits. The bullpen walked just one and struck out nine. The Beavers struck out 13 overall, one shy of tying the team’s season high of 14 against Portland on April 3.
Singles
• The Beavers out-hit WSU 13-7 on Friday and improved to 24-1 when tallying more hits than their opponents this season.
• OSU is also 12-0 when scoring 10 or more runs and 14-0 when holding opponents to two runs or less.
• Tyler Smith recorded his 19th multi-hit game of the season Friday.
• OSU is 10-8 on Saturdays this season.
