Q&A with Oregon State Head Coach Jon Reehoorn
How do you feel about the team heading to regionals?
"I think the team has a lot of positive momentum going right now. Of course, our play at the Pac-12 Championship has given the team some added confidence, but they continued this solid play at the U.S. Open qualifying at Royal Oaks on a very difficult course. I'm really excited about what is ahead for these five."
What are your team goals at regionals?
"We will try to focus on a few keys to what we need to focus on and we will be in good position on the final day. One, we need to take the same confidence we had at home at Trysting Tree to the course at Stanford. It is a place we have been two times in the last year. The guys know what to do on each tee; now they just need to believe what they are doing is right.
"Secondly, to keep it simple, the regional championships have a different feel than any other tournament we will play in. Everyone knows what is at stake and it is much more businesslike. We can't be caught up in making it more than it is. We need to play smart and solid golf and then everything will take care of itself."
What are your thoughts on the lineup?
"I'm confident the five guys traveling will give us a great chance to make it to Riviera (for the NCAA Championship)."
What will make this season a success for you?
"We are excited to be in the postseason. We've had a very good season with two wins, but we set a goal at the beginning of the season to get to Riviera and then see what happens. We are the No. 9 seed. No one expects anything from us this week, but I feel we are in a great position. When we make it to Riviera we will definitely be able to look at this season as a success."
