PERSONAL: Parents are Walt and Carolyn Gleisberg…father is an engineer and mother is a teacher…has an older brother, David, 20…plans to major in liberal arts and wants to be a teacher…enters OSU with a 3.8 GPA…member of National Honor Society and a member of Ventura High School honor roll…enjoys surfing…two former prep teammates are playing Division I basketball, Kristen Roper at Hawaii and Damaris Hinajosa at Pepperdine…selected OSU because, “a collaboration of location, coaches, teammates and basketball program.”…also considered attending USF, New Mexico, UCSB and UC Davis.
OREGON STATE(2000-01)Freshman: Kristine will join the OSU program in October and will compete for playing time at forward... “Kristine is a gifted athlete who has the ability to play at the power forward or small forward spot,” says Coach Judy Spoelstra. “She runs the floor exceptionally well and with her size will be a super transition player for Oregon State. Kristine has a good shooting touch and as a left-hander, can go either direction to the basket. She had a super summer, playing in many of the elite tournaments, traveling the country.”
VENTURA HIGH SCHOOL, Ventura, CA: Kristine earned four letters in basketball as a forward and center for Ventura High School while playing for Coach Glenn Gray…earned one letter in track and field as a high jumper…as a senior, earned first team all-league (Channel League) honors and first team All-CIF honors, as selected by the Los Angeles Times…best individual marks as a senior including scoring 22 points and pulling down 18 rebounds.
