CORVALLIS, Ore. -
Hailey Gaspar has signed a financial aid agreement to join the Oregon State gymnastics program, head coach Tanya Chaplin announced Tuesday. Gaspar, a transfer from Boise State, completes the 2012 recruiting class that also includes four incoming freshmen.
“Hailey is a great addition to this recruiting class,” Chaplin said. “She will make an immediate impact on the vault and floor exercise and she’ll add depth to the beam lineup too.”
Gaspar, who trains on three events – vault, balance beam and floor exercise – was an All-Western Athletic Conference first team member on vault and floor in 2011 and has been named WAC Specialist of the Week four times in her career. She arrives at OSU with career-highs of 9.95 on vault, 9.90 on floor and 9.825.
“I’m very excited and anxious to be part of the Oregon State gymnastics program,” Gaspar said. “I had interest in OSU out of high school and when I decided to transfer I knew Oregon State was my top choice. Oregon State has an amazing gymnastics team, awesome coaches and performs amazing gymnastics. There is such a great energy at competitions and I feed off of that and know it will be a good fit for me.”
Gaspar, who is studying communication, will have one year of eligibility when she arrives at Oregon State.
