Men's, Women's Golf Teams Volunteer At Special Event

GLADSTONE, Ore. - The Oregon State men's and women's golf teams spent Saturday volunteering with more than 50 participants of The First Tee of Greater Portland during a special event at The Children's Course in Gladstone, Ore.
The First Tee of Greater Portland and Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) teamed up to organize the event, which benefitted more than 50 young people from the greater Portland area.
The event gave The First Tee of Greater Portland participants the opportunity to learn from collegiate players and coaches and in the areas of golf instruction and wellness, as well as the importance of high school graduation, preparation for college and college golf opportunities.
About The First Tee of Greater Portland
The First Tee of Greater Portland is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to providing golfing opportunities for youth and families. We are now located at two locations: The Children's Course and Heron Lakes Golf Course. The Children's Course is a 9-hole, par 3 layout. It is funded by private donations from foundations, corporations and individuals. Heron Lakes Golf Course has two courses: The Great Blue and The Greenback, both designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. A facility unique to The First Tee of Greater Portland, the Erling Jacobsen Learning Center, features a 5-hole short course for teaching, practice and play. The First Tee of Greater Portland's outreach programs are dedicated to nurturing disadvantaged children ages 7 to 17, building values that strengthen their character, and guiding them in becoming responsible adults through the game of golf.

The golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) is the professional association of men's golf coaches. Established in 1958, this non-profit organization is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing its members who participate in men's golf at all levels.
