CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Department of Athletics and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) are proud to announce the ninth annual "The Other Side" talent show and silent auction will be held Tues., April 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the LaSells Stewart Center, adjacent to Reser Stadium.
“The Other Side is an event that truly emphasizes what we believe in with our student-athletes – that they are talented in many other ways than just their sports,” OSU Director of Athletics Bob De Carolis said. “The event is one of the highlights of the year for our student-athletes and we hope you can join us for the evening.”
Representatives from most of OSU's 17 intercollegiate teams will perform, including a dance routine by the nationally ranked gymnastics team, a solo by football’s Michael Beaton and a special act by the Pac-12 champion wrestling team.
The Other Side selects a charity or cause to support every April; this year the suggested $5 donation will benefit OSU IMPACT, a physical activity program for children, youth, and young adults with special needs. Tickets are available at the door only.
The Other Side began as a fundraiser to honor two very dedicated student-athletes who passed away during 2002; men's soccer players Stephen Hensor and Joe Zaher. Since then The Other Side has raised and donated money to local and national programs.
Silent auction items include OSU athletic gear and specific skill building lessons with the student-athletes and coaches.
ABOUT OSU IMPACT -- IMPACT is a community based program that serves children with disabilities. At OSU about 80 children with varying disabilities come to campus each week to learn important movement skills and address ongoing concerns for healthy lifestyles. OSU student volunteers work as teachers-mentors to assist these children gaining new skills.
