Day 13 -- Burner Markus Wheaton Talks About His Aspirations to be Firefighter
April 24, 2012
Corvallis, Ore. - If you have been to spring football practice this year, you may have noticed that Sean Mannion and Cody Vaz are looking downfield - a lot. When they look downfield number two is often the target as well he should be as senior receiver Markus Wheaton will almost certainly end his career in the top five for career receptions and yards at Oregon State.
Wheaton, who figures to draw some attention from NFL scouts this year, is also a mainstay in the team's feared flysweep that keeps the opposing secondary and linebackers guessing. He also is possessed with great speed that has made him a viable sprinter for track coach Kelly Sullivan.
The OSU video team had a chance to catch up with Wheaton after practice Tuesday as the team is in the midst of the final week of spring practice.
Make sure to join Beaver Nation at Fan Fest April 28 at Reser Stadium. New season ticket deposits will be accepted beginning at Fan Fest with a $50 non-refundable deposit per seat.
Athlon Sports recently ranked the Pac-12 quarterbacks in which sophomore Sean Mannion held the fourth position. Not bad for an underclassman who at this rate will challenge all of Derek Anderson's career records.
