Director Of Operations Nick Simmons Going For An Olympic Berth Sunday

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State director of operations Nick Simmons just completed his third season with Oregon State and the former Michigan State All-American will be going for an Olympic berth this Sunday at the U.S. Trials in Iowa.
Simmons is the nation's highest ranked wrestler at 55kg (equivalent to 121 pounds). In the 2008 Olympic Trials, he finished third and was later used as the alternate for the Olympics.
A native of Williamston, Mich., he had one of the most historically successful careers at Michigan State, racking up 138 wins, which is good for second-most in school history. He was a four-time All-American and won Big Ten Championships three times.
Fans can find coverage of the trials by visiting nbcolympics.com where a live stream will be available. The NBC Sports Network (channel 32 in the Corvallis region on Comcast) will air the trials from 1-4 p.m. PT on Sunday.

The first-place finisher in each weight class advances to compete in the London Olympics this summer. The second-place finisher is considered an alternate.
