Baseball's Pat Bailey To Receive Ethics In Coaching Award

April 18, 2012
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State assistant coach Pat Bailey will receive the Ethics In Coaching Award from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) in January at its national convention.
The award is given annually to one or two coaches who "represent the highest standards in sportsmanship, integrity, character and ethics." Bailey will receive the award on either Jan. 4 or 5 in front of approximately 4,000 of his coaching peers at next year's convention, which will be held in Chicago.
"It's very humbling to receive this award," Bailey said. "First of all, you have to be nominated by a fellow coach. To get an award based on your moral ethics, it just means a lot. It's very humbling to know that other people see you as a highly ethical person. I've always tried to do the right thing, treat people right and show respect toward my opponent."
Bailey is in his fifth season at Oregon State and has helped guide the club to postseason appearances in three of his first four seasons. Prior to joining the program, he compiled a 353-158 in 12 seasons at George Fox, winning a Division III national title in 2008. His teams won or shared the Northwest Conference title eight teams and advanced to the NCAA tournament six times, in addition to two trips to the NAIA postseason before making the step up to Division III.
Oregon State turns its sights to No. 11 UCLA, which visits Goss Stadium for a three-game series starting Friday. Tickets remain for the series and can be purchased online at osubeavers.com, over the phone by calling 1-800-GOBEAVS or visiting the ticket office at Gill Coliseum. Fans may also purchase tickets on gameday at the Goss Stadium ticket office, which opens two hours before first pitch.
Saturday's game will be broadcast on KEZI 9.2 (channel 309 digitally or 9.2 over the air) and ROOT Sports Northwest with a 1:05 p.m. PT start. Fans who live in the Eugene/Corvallis region can find the game on KEZI 9.2 - fans elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest can find the game on ROOT Sports.
