No. 18 Beavers Ready for Weekend of Racing at Stanford Invite

CORVALLIS, Ore. -
Just a week after a six-win weekend, the Oregon State men's rowing team is back on the water to race at the Pac-12 Challenge/Stanford Invitational Saturday and Sunday at Redwood Shores, Calif. Saturday, the Beavers will race UC Davis beginning at 9:20 a.m. and will face No. 4 Wisconsin at 2:30 p.m. In Sunday’s racing, OSU will match up against UC San Diego at 9:10 a.m.
"We are in the heart of the season now and every race this weekend at Stanford is critical,” head coach Steve Todd said. “The team knows that there will be some tough competition from Wisconsin and UC San Diego. It is always an exciting race at Redwood Shores; the course is just two lanes wide, so it’s just you and your opponent racing all out for 2,000 meters.”
Oregon State, whose varsity eight remains ranked 18th in the nation in the most recent USRowing Collegiate Poll, will have three crews compete on the Northern California waters.
The Beavers' V8 (9:20 a.m.) and JV8 (10:30 a.m.) will begin racing against UC Davis and the Freshman 8 will race twice before the lunch break, at 10 a.m. against Santa Clara’s JV8 and again at 12:10 p.m. against California.
OSU's V8, JV8 and F8 will also compete later in the afternoon against Wisconsin. A top-20 duel between the Badgers’ fourth-ranked V8 and the Beavers’ 18th-ranked crew will start at 2:30 p.m. That showdown will be followed by the JV8 at 3:20 p.m. and the F8 race at 4:10 p.m.
On Sunday, the Beavers triumvirate of crews will put the blades back in the water for a morning of racing against UC San Diego beginning with the V8 (9:10 a.m.), followed by the JV8 (10:20 a.m.) and F8 (11 a.m.).
Last time out on April 7, the four Oregon State boats claimed morning victories over Gonzaga Lake Vancouver. In afternoon racing, OSU's F8 scored a victory over Stanford while the V8 and JV8 both finished second.
