Beavers Move Up Two Spots After Second Round At U.S. Intercollegiate

STANFORD, Calif. - Despite rain and windy conditions that forced a long delay on Saturday, the Oregon State men's golf team battled the inclement weather to move up two spots to ninth place after the second round of the 17-team U.S. Intercollegiate in Stanford, Calif.
The Beavers shot a 23-over 303 in the tough conditions at the par-70, 6,742-yard Stanford Golf Course on Saturday and sit at 30-over 590 heading into Sunday's final round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament.
Junior Nick Chianello, who is in his first year at Oregon State after transferring last spring from the University of Portland, once again led the way for the Beavers on Saturday as he shot a 3-over 73. He is tied for fifth place on the individual leader board with a 1-under 139 after firing an Oregon State personal best 4-under 66 in the opening round.

Chianello's best finish as a Beaver is a tie for 15th place (Bandon Dunes Championship) and his best during his two-year career with the Pilots was a tie for fifth place in two different tournaments.
Seniors Jonnie Motomochi and Casey King each shot a 6-over 76 on Saturday and sit in a tie for 57th and tie for 81st, respectively. Senior Alex Moore is tied for 59th with an 11-over 73-78--151 and junior Nick Sherwood fell to a tie for 84th with an 18-over 74-84--158.
The final round begins at 8 a.m. on Sunday with a shotgun start. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
