BANDON, Ore. - The Oregon State men's golf team wrapped up the 2012 Bandon Dunes Championship in a tie for fourth place on Sunday with junior Nick Chianello leading the Beavers with a 1-under 70 in the final round.
The Beavers finished the three-day, 54-hole tournament with a 28-over 291-294-295--880 at the par-71, 6,743-yard Bandon Trails Course. Washington and Long Beach State tied for the team title with a 5-over 857 and No. 9 Oregon finished third with a 19-over 871 in the 15-team field.
Chianello had his best round of the tournament on Sunday, after posting a pair of 4-over 75's in the first two rounds, that included three birdies, an eagle on the par-5 16th hole and four bogies for the 1-under 70 to finish in a tie for 15th with a 7-over 220.
Junior Nick Sherwood was the highest Beaver on the individual leader board, finishing in a tie for 12th with a 6-over 70-73-76--219, while senior All-American Alex Moore finished in a tie for 26th with a 9-over 75-73-74--222.
Senior Casey King and junior Matt Rawitzer each tied for 30th with a 10-over 223, with King going 73-73-77 and Rawitzer finishing 73-75-75.
Oregon State returns to action Monday and Tuesday, March 26-27, at the Oregon Duck Invitational, which will be played at the Eugene Country Club and is the site where Moore shot a 9-under 63 last year, the lowest round in Oregon State history.
