BANDON, Ore. - The Oregon State men's golf team is in fourth place after Saturday's second round at the 15-team Bandon Dunes Championship with the final round of the three-day, 54 hole tournament slated for Sunday.
The Beavers shot a 10-over 294 on Saturday after opening with a 7-over 291 at the par-71, 6,743-yard Bandon Trails Course and trail No. 3 Washington (3-over 571), Long Beach State (10-over 578) and No. 9 Oregon (16-over 584) heading into Sunday's final round with a 17-over 585.
"It was a disappointing finish to the day, but we have a chance to come out tomorrow and still have a good finish," Oregon State head coach Jon Reehoorn said. "We need to respond tomorrow morning. This will be a good chance to see what we are made of. As a team, it wasn't like we were way off, but on this course the margin for error is not great."
Three Oregon State golfers - seniors Alex Moore and Casey King and junior Nick Sherwood - finished with a 2-over 73 on Saturday, while junior transfers Nick Chianello and Matt Rawitzer each wrapped up the second round with a 4-over 75.
