PERSONAL--Born 12/5/78 in Roseburg, OR...son of Donald and Barbara Morrow...his father is a sawmill employee and his mother is a school computer clerk...has one older brother, Wesley, 25...Business major...entered OSU with a 3.7 GPA...was on the Roseburg honor roll and a member of the National Honor Society...weightlifting and listening to music are his hobbies...Kevin Green of the Carolina Panthers is his favorite athlete...winning consecutive 4A Oregon high school football championships has been his top athletic thrill to date...selected OSU because, "I was impressed with Coach Riley and liked the school."
OSU--(1999-Sophomore)--Matt reported for spring drills listed No. 4 on the depth chart at defensive right tackle and his position on the depth chart remained the same following spring drills...still is undersized for the position which is a handicap for Matt...once again, playing behind a pair of letter winners and a returning starter...has been impressive in the weight room and has produced personal bests of 350 pounds in the hang clean, 340 in the bench press, 455 in the back squat and 325 in the incline...his best vertical jump is 26.00 inches.
(1998-Redshirt Freshman)--Matt benefited from the redshirt season by adding 12 pounds and more strength, but he still is a little undersized for the defensive line...Matt is a very aggressive and competitive player who will battle people...reported to spring drills listed No. 4 on the depth chart at nose guard...improved his standing to No. 3 at nose guard at the conclusion of spring drills...Matt faced an uphill battle for playing time in 1998 with three letter winners at the same position...as a result, Matt did not get any playing time during the 1998 season.
(1997-Freshman)--Matt spent the 1997 season as a redshirt defensive lineman playing on the scout team.
ROSEBURG HIGH SCHOOL--(1994-96)--Matt earned two letters in football as a starting defensive tackle and three in track and field as a shot putter...Matt played his prep football for former Oregon Stater Thurman Bell...never played in a losing game for Roseburg...the Indians went 28-0 during his prep playing days and won back-to-back Oregon 4A state championships...Matt was a two-time all-league (Southern Oregon Conference) pick as a defensive tackle...as a senior, he was named first-team all-state by the Oregonian and USA Today...named honorable mention All-American by USA Today... had 90 solo tackles as a junior and 85 as a senior...had 9 solo tackles against West Linn and Sheldon in back-to-back playoff games his junior year...had 7 solo tackles and several key blocks on offense as a senior in the state championship game against Oregon City...after committing to OSU, Matt canceled all other visits...coach Bell said, "We had him play both offense and defense this year, but when he is on just one side of the ball he is phenomenal. He is lean and will get a lot bigger in college. He has great feet and runs extremely well. I think he will be a great pass rusher."...was selected second team All-Pac-10 region by the winter issue of SuperPrep Magazine...ran 4.95 in 40 and benched 340 pounds and squatted 450 pounds as a prep senior.
