Men's Golf Adds Transfer To 2011-12 Roster

June 9, 2011
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Matt Rawitzer, who played for the University of Idaho's men's golf team the past two seasons, will transfer to Oregon State and join the Beavers golf program, head coach Jon Reehoorn announced on Thursday.
"Matt will be a great addition to the team," Reehoorn said. "He has won a college tournament and performed very well this spring in a few tournaments we were competing in. He is a very consistent player, who has the ability to wear the course out from tee to green."
The Bellingham, Wash. native tied for medalist honors at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate in 2010 with a 5-under 208 and had a 73.78 scoring average in two seasons with the Vandals. His best round was a 67 in both the first and second rounds at the 2011 Jackrabbit Invitational where he finished in a tie for third place.
Rawitzer was also the state champion and state runner-up at Squalicum High School and was the 2008 UnderArmour College Golf Combine Champion and advanced to the match play portions of the 2007 and 2008 PNGA Junior Amateur as well as the 2008 PNGA Men's Amateur.
The Beavers return every player from this past season's team that advanced to an NCAA Regional for a fifth consecutive year and will add Nick Chianello, a transfer from the University of Portland, and two freshmen to the 2011-12 roster.
"We have 10 guys on the team for next season," Reehoorn said. "Right now I can see all 10 of those individuals making a contribution to our success next year. Everything we do is based on competition and next year they are going to have to compete every day for the opportunity to play. I'm excited to see how it all unfolds."
