Andrew Susac Selected In Second Round By San Francisco

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State sophomore catcher Andrew Susac has been selected in the second round by the San Francisco Giants in the 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Tuesday. Susac is the 86th overall selection in the draft.
Susac has played in 38 games for the Beavers this season, starting 37, and is batting .313 with nine doubles, four triples and five home runs. He has driven in 32, which is tied for second on the team.
He was most recently named the all-tournament team for the Corvallis Regional and is a 2011 All-Pacific-10 Conference honorable mention selection.
Susac is the first Oregon State player to be selected and the team's highest draft choice since Eddie Kunz and Mitch Canham both went in the first round in 2007. Susac is the eighth Oregon State player to be taken by the Giants in the draft since it began in 1968.
