Berberet, Stamps, Bell Cap OSU Baseball Selections On Day Two Of MLB Draft

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State junior outfielder Brian Stamps was taken in the 24th round (746th overall) and senior catcher Parker Berberet was selected in round 25 (761st overall) by the Milwaukee Brewers to round out the Beavers afternoon in the second day of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Tuesday.
Stamps became the first Beaver to be chosen by Atlanta since Kevin Gunderson was selected in the fifth round in 2006. Stamps batted .270 through the Corvallis Regional and has 11 doubles, two home runs and 23 RBI through 57 games this season.
Atlanta has now selected an OSU player three times since the draft began in 1968.
Berberet, meanwhile, is the first Oregon State player taken by the Brewers since Cole Gillespie went to Milwaukee in the third round in 2006. Berberet has played in 47 games this season, and has batted .259 with 12 doubles, five home runs and a team-leading 37 RBI while splitting time between first base and catcher.
The Brewers have selected four Beavers since the draft's inception.
Bell has played in 50 games for OSU in 2011, batting .299 with 11 doubles, a home run and 22 RBI. He is the first Beaver taken by Arizona since Shea McFeeley was selected in the 28th round in 2006. The Diamondbacks have now selected four OSU players since joining the National League in 1998.
The two selections rounded out OSU's day, which saw Andrew Susac go in the second round to San Francisco, Sam Gaviglio in the fifth round to St. Louis and the Giants also selected Josh Osich in the sixth round.
The draft continues Wednesday with rounds 31-50.
