Baseball Closes 2011 Season Ranked 10th

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State baseball team has closed out the 2011 season as the nation's No. 10 team according to Baseball America in its final top-25 rankings of the campaign.
South Carolina won the College World Series on Tuesday night and the publication released its rankings on Thursday, placing five Pacific-10 Conference teams in its list. The Beavers' No. 10 ranking is the team's highest to end a campaign since the 2007 club was No. 1.
Arizona State is the highest ranked Pac-10 club at No. 9, followed by the Beavers, No. 11 California, No. 13 Stanford and No. 22 UCLA.
Oregon State opened the season unranked and eventually made its way to No. 2 in the Baseball America rankings. The Beavers hosted their first NCAA Regional since 2006 and advanced to the Nashville Super Regional, bowing out in two games to Vanderbilt.
Oregon State head coach Pat Casey was named the league's coach of the year for his efforts, while Sam Gaviglio was named an All-American by multiple organizations. He, sophomore Tony Bryant and freshman Kavin Keyes were all named first-team all-league.
