Creighton Bluejays Post-Game Quotes
Head Coach Ed Servais
Opening Statement
"Well that was an outstanding college baseball game. Both pitchers pitched extremely well to win that baseball game. It resembles a lot of games that we played in this year. The pace of the game was to our liking. It was fast and Jonas (Dufek) did a tremendous job at throwing a lot of strikes. We are just riding this wave. We are anxious to play tomorrow night and I know it is going to be a tough environment, but we are looking forward to it."
On watching tonight's Oregon State vs. Arkansas-Little Rock game...
"We will be there watching the entire game tonight. Yes."
Pitcher Jonas Dufek
On anything not working today...
"Early on I was leaving quite a few of my pitches up and they put some balls in play. But my defense was behind me early, and then later on, I was able to settle down and strike a few more guys out. But the whole game my defense made plays behind me that really worked for me."
On the speed of the game and how short it was...
"I think that for our whole team it just keeps everyone engaged throughout the whole game. Everyone was playing with pace, we were working fast, and that is just how we have played all year, which is what you want to do when you get up there. You want to throw strokes and let your defense work behind you."
Catch Scott Thornburg
On the game possibly being decided by one mistake...
"That stuff happens all the time and you just have to find ways to keep plugging and be even more aggressive. It worked out. We got a couple of runners in scoring position and I would think Anthony (Bemboom) and myself would both agree that when we got up there and got our hacks, we were not going down looking."
Leftfielder Anthony Bemboom
On responding after being behind 1-0... "That's what good teams do once they get down or the other team scores; they respond in the next half inning. We pride ourselves on shutting teams down after we score in the next half inning and we felt pretty good about how we got some runners on and then getting them in finally."
Georgia Bulldogs Post-Game Quotes
Head Coach David Perno
On potential opponents on Saturday...
"It's not about them, it's about us. Sometimes you get so caught up with what he's doing, what they're doing, that you forget about what you need to do."
First Baseman Jonathan Hester
On today's game...
"(Jonas) Dufek did a great job at keeping us off speed and keeping us off balance pretty good and threw a heck of a game. We didn't have very good approaches today, but the main thing was that they kept us off balance."
On the position they face now...
"We have to fight. Our backs are against the wall. We have to come out and play hard like we know how. If we play the way we're capable of, we'll come out on top."
Pitcher Michael Palazzone
On the seventh inning...
"I just kind of tried to stick with my approach out there and throw strokes, filling up the strike zone. They did a good job battling with two strikes and squeaked two in there to start the inning off. They managed to get the runs in."
