Tribble Accepts Assistant Position at Alabama

June 22, 2011
Corvallis, Ore. – Oregon State track and field assistant coach Adam Tribble has accepted an assistant track and field coaching position at Alabama as the distance coach, announced Monday by Alabama head coach Dan Waters.
Tribble coached the Beavers for the past two seasons under head coach Kelly Sullivan after stints at Arkansas and his alma mater, Georgia, where he earned a degree in health and physical education in 2002, followed immediately by a master’s in movement studies.
“I’m very excited for Adam and want to wish him the very best,” Sullivan said. “This is a great opportunity for someone who put in two outstanding years here with us, and we all want to thank him for his hard work and commitment to helping us continue to build this program.”
“Adam was a guy that I coached at the University of Georgia and I’ve always recognized his deep passion for the sport and he’s educated himself in the sport as well as anyone,” Waters said. “He has a fantastic relationship with distance runners and knows how to relate to them. He brings a great element of organization and energy to our staff.”
He helped coach the Razorbacks to three straight SEC Cross Country Championships over the past three seasons with the team tallying a pair of runner-up finishes as well the prior two years. Arkansas never fell out of the top 20 at the NCAA Championships under his watch and finished as high as fifth in 2006.
While a student at Georgia, Tribble was a two-year captain of the Bulldog track and field team, earning All-Region honors in cross country. During that time, he also found time to assist with the Athens Christian School in 2000 and act as lab assistant for an endurance and research study in 2001. He also finished 46th in the U.S. Olympic Trials in the marathon in 2008.
