June 21, 2011
Corvallis, Ore. -
The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators has honored Oregon State University in several categories in its "Best of" Awards.
OSU won silver awards for its marketing efforts for sponsorship program, single newspaper display advertisement and for its radio commercial.
The sponsorship program was centered around the men's basketball team and the Nike N7 game last November. The Nov. 21 contest, presented by Spirit Mountain Casino, was the highest attended non-conference game of the season. The goal of the Nike N7 program is to raise awareness for the need to bring access to sport to Native American and aboriginal youth.
OSU's newspaper display ad promoting the football team's 2010 home opener vs. Louisville led to a record attendance for a non-conference game at 45,379. The "I Am Orange" radio commercial, produced by Citrus, Inc., helped the school achieve a record for football season ticket sales at 26,952.
Oregon State's marketing team includes Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions Nikki Pruett, Director of Advertising and Branding Ben Little, and Marketing Coordinator Shelby Van Orsow.
Initiated in 2003, the NACMA Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 16 categories, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness. A total of 782 entries were received for the 2010-11 year. The winners were presented their awards during NACMA's 20th Annual Convention, June 16-18 in Orlando.
