Carlyle Earns All-America Track and Field Honors

June 14, 2011
New Orleans, La. – Junior Laura Carlyle (Kelowna, British Columbia) added All-America Honorable Mention honors to her already impressive resume from the 2011 outdoor track season, announced Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Carlyle, the first female NCAA Championships qualifier since the Oregon State program was reinstated in 2005, joins football player Jordan Bishop, who earned All-America status last year in the high jump.
She finished fourth in her heat, seventh overall, at the NCAA Preliminary Round in Eugene, Ore., on May 28 to advance to the national meet, resetting her school record in the 5,000 meters to finish in 16:05.04.
She also holds the school record in the 1,500 meters (4:18.73) that she set at the Payton Jordan Invitational on May 1, following it with a runner-up finish at the Pac-10 Championships just a couple seconds off of her personal best.
