Cross Country and Track Inks One More for 2011-12
May 9, 2011
CORVALLIS - The Oregon State cross country and track team has signed one more for the 2011-12 season in Raelyn Robinson from Siuslaw High School in Florence, Ore. head coach Kelly Sullivan announced Monday.
"We're all really excited about Raelyn," Sullivan Said. "We've had opportunity to watch her over the last couple years and feel like she is a great fit. She is a tremendous talent coming from one of the best programs in state history. I want to give a lot of credit to our assistant coach Travis Floeck, who was a key person in recruiting her. We feel we have landed one of the top prospects in the northwest and added to an incredible class."
Robinson is a two-time Oregon 4A State Champion after winning the outdoor track 1,500-meters in 2010 and cross country in 2009. While she was leading the way for the Vikings, they won three team state championships in cross country.
Robinson put together 10 all-state performances including finishing 2nd in the state in the 800 and three top five cross country finishes in her high school career. She set school records in the cross country 5,000 (18:17), track 1,500 (4:42) and track 800 (2:18).
"Coach Sullivan is the coach I want to run for without a doubt," Robinson said. "He reminds me of my high school coach, and that is exactly what I was looking for in making my decision. Add in the amazing team, the facilities, and Corvallis itself, and I'm very excited and feel blessed to be to be going to OSU."
Robinson is the sixth signee for the 2011-12 campaign after Latane Cox (Lake Oswego, Ore.), Kinsey Gomez (Coeur D'Alene, Idaho), Aly Neilson (Colleyville Heritage, Texas) and Kelsi Schaer (Tigard Ore.) signed letters of intent in late February and Maureen Tremblay (Gig Harbor, Wash.) in April.
