Hilary Polis Earned All-Pac-10 Recognition

May 27, 2011
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -
Oregon State sophomore Hilary Polis was announced as a member of the Women’s Rowing Pac-10 All-Conference team, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Thursday.
“Hilary made great strides this year. She is incredibly steady and sh found a way to bring any lineup she was in together. She’ll be someone to watch over the next two years.”
Polis (Redmond, Wash./Redmond HS) was a key member of the Varsity 8 throughout the season a rarity for OSU’s varsity rowers in 2011. Polis was a stalwart persevering through a rash of injuries and illness that prevented five different rowers projected for the varsity crew from racing by the end of the season.
The Beavers’ V8 and Polis finished seventh at the Pac-10 Championships, held May 15, however the strong season by OSU’s Novice 8 coupled with last year’s impressive novice crew and the expected return to health of several of the team’s top rowers leaves the program with a strong foundation for the 2011-12 season.
