McGregor Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District

Oregon State gymnast Stephanie McGregor (Calgary, Alberta) was recognized on the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 women’s at-large first team, Thursday. McGregor, as a first team honoree advances to the national ballot which determines the Academic All-America team, which will be announced in June. A junior, McGregor, is the first OSU gymnast to earn similar honors since 2008 when Yuki Lamb went on to become an Academic All-American. McGregor is studying bioengineering while taking her classes through Oregon State’s Honors College. McGregor has been an integral part of several lineups for the Beavers throughout her career. In 2011, McGregor performed in the lead off position of the uneven bars, which finished the year ranked No. 1 in the country. In addition, McGregor has been a key member of the vault lineup for three years and has provided outstanding depth to the floor lineup as a part-time performer in that lineup. In April, McGregor was named as a Pac-10 All-Academic First Team member for the second time and she is also a two-time NACGC/W (National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women) Scholastic All-American. Nominees for the at-large team were taken from student-athletes in the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo with each NCAA institution allowed to submit three total nominees for consideration. In order to be considered, athletes must have a minimum 3.20 cumulative grade point average, have reached sophomore standing both academically and athletically, have completed at least one full academic year at their current institutions, and participated in at least 50 percent of their team’s competitions. The team is selected by a vote of College Sports Information Directors of America members within District VIII, which includes schools in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawai’i, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and British Columbia.
