Last Game
Oregon State squandered a 6-0 lead and the Washington won the game, 7-6, in the ninth on a bases-loaded walk by Troy Scott on Saturday. Washington loaded the bases after Tony Bryant intentionally walked Jacob Lamb with no out. But Scott was able to get the count to 3-2 before Bryant unleashed ball four for the Huskies’ comeback victory. The Beavers found themselves up 6-0 after three in which both Hayes and Susac drove in two apiece. But the Huskies scored two in the sixth off starter Ben Wetzler, then four more in the seventh.
Two-Game Pac-10 Lead
Oregon State’s magic number to earn at least a share of the Pac-10 crown is four as the Beavers hold a two-game lead in the Pac-10 over both Arizona State and UCLA. OSU has been in first place for 15 consecutive league dates.
Seven Straight Series Wins
OSU is looking for its eighth Pac-10 series victory of the 2011 season when playing USC this weekend. The Beavers are the only Pac-10 team to win all seven of its series. The Beavers, in fact, have gone at least .500 in every series or tournament this season.
Note Against USC
The Beavers are 12-19 all-time against USC at home, and have gone 7-5 against the Trojans at Goss Stadium since 2005. OSU has never swept the Trojans, home or away. Pat Casey is 15-27 all-time against USC.
Susac Still On A Hit Streak
Andrew Susac has hit safely in all three games he has played in since returning to the lineup, stretching his hit streak to seven games. He is 9-for-24 (.375) with 10 runs batted in during his hit streak.
Don’t Rest On Kavin Keyes
Kavin Keyes finds himself tied for sixth in the Pac-10 with 18 runs batted in during league play, which leads the Beavers. That is due in large part to his 10 RBI over his last six games, in which he has hit safely in each. He is 10-for-22 (.454) during his hit streak.
Notes Of Importance
• Ryan Dunn’s cycle against Portland last week was just the second in school history and first since Andy Jenkins had one in the 2005 super regional against USC.
• Saturday’s game will be broadcast live on ROOT SPORTS and KEZI 9.2. Of the Beavers last six games, four will be on TV.
• One win would give OSU 20 at home in 2011. OSU has hit that plateau four times previously.
