Corvallis, Ore. - The Oregon State women's basketball team added Patricia Bright to its signing class for the 2011-12 season, announced Thursday by head coach Scott Rueck.
Bright joins four other junior college transfers (Mollee Schwegler, Quortni Fambro, ShaKiana Edwards-Teasley and Thais Pinto) and one true freshman (Ali Gibson) in Rueck's first signing class at Oregon State.

Patricia Bright comes to Oregon State after being an important contributor in helping Pensacola State College to a third place finish at the NJCAA Tournament in 2011. The Pirates finished 36-1 overall, undefeated in Panhandle Conference play, to earn a FCCAA Championship. As a freshman, Bright helped the Pirates to a 24-5 overall record, finishing second to the title winner. With the addition of Bright, the Oregon State roster now boasts five players at least 6-0.
"We are excited to announce the addition of Patricia Bright to our program," Rueck said. "Patricia knows what it takes to be successful, as she comes to us from a top-notch junior college program and having played for Chanda Rigby. She is a long, athletic player, who has great speed and can play both post positions. Offensively, she has the ability to step out and shoot the three, as well as score with her back to the basket. She has a good feel for the game and has the size and athleticism to be an outstanding defender in the Pac-12. Patricia is a great person, a joy to be around and will flourish on and off the court here."
"I choose to sign with Oregon State because of the great chemistry that the team and coaches have," Bright said. "I'm excited to play for Coach Rueck because of his great coaching abilities and his ability to improve all of his players. Signing here also means I get to play against top players in the Pac-12 and be close to my family, so they can come to the games. And the players made my decision easier because of how energetic and positive they were about the upcoming season and getting better as a team and individually."
