Women's Rowing Returns to Lake Natoma for Pac-10 Championships

May 12, 2011
CORVALLIS -
After a two week break, the Oregon State women’s rowing team returns to the waters of Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif. for the Pac-10 Championships this Sunday, May 15.
Oregon State’s injury-ravaged Varsity 8 will face stiff competition from what is arguably the strongest rowing conference in the nation including No. 1 California, No. 3 Stanford, No. 4 USC, No. 7 Washington, No. 14 Washington State and No. 17 UCLA.
“We plan to put our best foot forward this weekend,” head coach Emily Ford said. “There is a lot of training that goes into any season and this is the moment that we try to bring it all together. If we stay present to each moment along the way this week, I feel confident that we’ll do just that.”
Four crews will represent Oregon State beginning at 9:50 a.m. with the Novice 8. The Varsity 4+ races at 10:30, the Second Varsity 8 at 11:10 and the Varsity 8 wraps up the regatta at 11:50.
OSU’s three varsity boats are seeded seventh while the novice crew is seeded fifth. The seedings will correspond to the lane positioning for the races.
Following the races, the awards ceremony will be held at 12:15 p.m. Live streaming of the races will be available at http://www.jamcotimes.com/ under “2011 Regattas: Pac-10 Championships.” Also check back with osubeavers.com for a recap of the weekend’s racing.
