Last Game
Ryan Dunn hit for the second cycle in Oregon State history and Jared Norris and Michael Miller also hit home runs as the No. 2 Beavers downed Portland, 13-3, in a non-conference game at Goss Stadium Tuesday night. Dunn doubled in the second, homered in the fifth, singled in the sixth and tripled in the eighth for the Beavers’ first cycle since Andy Jenkins did so against USC on June 13, 2005. He drove in four runs to pace the Beavers, who won their 12th consecutive game over the Pilots. All told, the Beavers finished with 14 hits off four Portland pitchers.
Dunn And The Cycle
Ryan Dunn had OSU’s first cycle since 2006 - and just the second in program history - when he went 4-for-4 on Tuesday night. He adds to the list of OSU achievements in 2011, which includes Josh Osich’s no-hitter and Sam Gaviglio’s 41 2/3 innings scoreless innings.
Back At Safeco
Friday night’s game marks the Beavers’ third at Safeco Field dating back to 2007. OSU is 1-1 at Safeco, defeating the Huskies, 6-4, in 2009.
Susac, Duke Note
Andrew Susac made his first appearance since April 3 when he went 1-for-4 with two RBI on Tuesday, amazingly extending his hit streak to five games. Meanwhile, freshman right-hander Adam Duke made his first collegiate appearance Tuesday and allowed a hit and two runs with a strikeout in one inning.
On The Road Again
Oregon State makes its second-to-last roadtrip of the season and OSU has been good away from Goss Stadium, going 16-6 in road and neutral site games. Friday’s game will be considered a neutral-site contest for both teams.
Battle For The Pac-10 Title
OSU has a one-game lead over Arizona State for the Pac-10 title. The Sun Devils are at USC in a three-game set this weekend. The Beavers have been in first place for the last 12 Pac-10 dates.
Notes Of Importance
• Oregon State is looking for its first series victory at Washington since 2005 when the Beavers swept the Huskies.
• Saturday and Sunday’s games will be held at Husky Ballpark on the UW campus.
• OSU’s 224 wins all-time against the Huskies is the most against any one program.
• The Beavers are 8-1 on Fridays in 2011.
• OSU is 25-2 when out-hitting an opponent this season and 11-2 away from Goss.
