Gymnasts Set to Walk at Relay For Life Friday Night

May 11, 2011
CORVALLIS -
The Oregon State gymnastics team is set to walk in the Relay For Life for the seventh straight spring this Friday night, May 13. The American Cancer Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
Members of the gymnastics team will take turns walking around the quad of OSU’s Memorial Union from 6 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday in an effort to raise money for the fight against cancer.
The Beavers have set a goal to raise $1,000 for the cause and they’ll have a bake sale at their campsite to help meet their goal.
“We’re excited to be involved in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life again this year,” senior Jen Kesler said. “The gymnastics team has been involved in the Relay since before I got here and I’m really proud to be involved. This is a disease that affects us all … it hits close to home for so many. Just like our Pink Out during the season, we look forward to the Relay each year and helping to raise money to find the cure.”
Approximately 70 teams of supporters will participate in OSU’s Relay for Life.
