Track Tests Its Talents at Pac-10 Track & Field Championships

CORVALLIS - The Oregon State track team travels to the Pacific-10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday, May 13-14. The University of Arizona will host the events at Roy P. Drachman Stadium.
Junior Laura Carlyle leads the Beavers into the Pac-10 Championships and will compete in the 1,500-meters as well as the 5,000. She set the school record in the 5,000 at the Stanford Invitational in late March and she also set the school record in the 1,500 at the Payton Jordan Invitational last month.
Carlyle, along with Audrey Botti and Krista Stangel will kick off competition for the women on Friday in the 1,500. Olivia Poblacion will run in the 3,000 steeplechase and Erin Jones will run in the 10,000, both events coming on Friday evening.
Oregon State football student-athletes Obum Gwacham, Markus Wheaton and Keynan Parker will all be competing at the Pac-10 Championships. Gwacham will compete in the high jump and possibly the triple jump while Wheaton and Parker will test their speed in the 100-meter dash.
On Saturday, Kristin Oenning will compete in the high jump while Botti, Carlyle, Abby Chesimet, Jennifer Macias, Hayley Oveson and Poblacion will run in the 5,000. The top 12 from the trials in the women's 1,500 and the men's 100 will compete in the event finals on Saturday.
Live results will be posted throughout the meet and can be accessed through www.pac-10.org and www.arizonawildcats.com. Complete results following each day will also be posted on both websites.
ROOT Sports will air a two-hour tape delayed show Thursday, May 19 at 5 p.m. Paul Sunderland and Joanna Hayes will call the action, while color commentary will be provided by Tom Feuer. Samantha Steele will provide additional commentary from the infield.

6:20 p.m. - Women's 1500m Final (Top 12 from Trials)
7:30 p.m. - Men's 100m Final (Top 8 from Trials)
