Cross Country and Track Adds One More for 2011-12

April 5, 2011
CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State cross country and track team signed another recruit for the 2011-12 campaign in Maureen Tremblay as announced by head coach Kelly Sullivan. She joins Latane Cox, Kinsey Gomez, Aly Neilson and Kelsi Schaer as signees for next season.
Hailing from Gig Harbor, Wash., Tremblay is another solid Northwest recruit. She is a strong example of a student-athlete, getting it done in the classroom as a member of the National Honor Society. She was also selected for the President's Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence.
Tremblay also brings an impressive running résumé with her to Oregon State. She took sixth in the state 6A cross country championships her junior season and went on to place 12th at Nike's Border Clash competition and 13th at the NXN Northwest regional race that fall. She took second at her district meet this fall, but was held out of the state meet due to an injury. She has a 5k cross country best of 18:24.
Tremblay chose Oregon State because, "of the great facilities the school has to offer, the beautiful campus, and the very welcoming team." She plans on studying Graphic Design and Marketing.
"We're excited to have these five outstanding young women who are great students and all come from outstanding programs," Sullivan said. "I feel like we've hit a home run with this group."
