Gabe Miller Selected by the Chiefs in the 5th Round

NEW YORK, N.Y. -
Former Oregon State defensive end Gabe Miller has been drafted with the 9th pick in the 5th round (140 overall) by the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday in the 2011 National Football League Draft.
Miller earned four letters while starting 24 games in his career, including 17 straight at defensive end. The Lake Oswego, Ore. native arrived at Oregon State as a tight end/H-Back where he made eight catches as a redshirt freshman. Prior to the 2009 season, Miller switched positions to defensive end for his final two years accumulating eight sacks and 13 tackles-for-loss. He earned All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention as a senior.
Miller becomes the third Oregon State defensive end to be selected as an outside linebacker in the NFL Draft in recent years – Victor Butler and Slade Norris were taken by Dallas and Oakland respectively in 2009.
Miller joins Stephen Paea (2nd round/53rd overall) as Oregon State alums taken in the 2011 draft, marking the eighth time in nine years, and nine out of 11, that at least two former OSU players have been taken in the NFL Draft.
