Women's Soccer Caps Spring Schedule with Seattle Sounders Saturday

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women's soccer team hosts the Seattle Sounders United Soccer Leagues W-League team this Saturday starting at 7 p.m. at Paul Lorenz Field.
"Our game against the Seattle Sounders' Women's W-League team will be a fantastic event on Mom's Weekend this Saturday," Oregon State women's soccer head coach Linus Rhode said. "We are expecting a good crowd and we know it will be a good way to wrap up our Spring Season."
The game against the Sounders is the final game of the spring exhibition schedule for the Beavers. Oregon State played Humboldt State to a scoreless tie before it beat Southern Oregon by a score of 2-0 with goals by Hailey Shaw and Sarah Leads in a doubleheader on April 9.
Oregon State then shut out Washington State by a score of 2-0, with goals from Jacy Drobney and Jenna Richardson. It then defeated Portland State by a score of 5-1 in another doubleheader April 17 before playing the University of Portland to a 1-1 draw in Portland on April 23.
The Sounders are a member of the Western Conference of the USL W-League is competing in their 10th season after being founded in 2001.
As always, admission is free for fans for all Oregon State home games. Those attending the match are encouraged to "Help Fight Hunger" by bringing a canned food item to donate to Community Outreach.
Oregon State is coming off of another NCAA Tournament appearance. They defeated No. 24 Memphis in the first round before falling to No. 6 Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla.
The Beavers finished second in conference play going 7-2, their best conference record in program history and finished the season with an overall record of 16-4-1. They lose only one starter from last year in lone senior Courtney Wetzel who led the team in assists with 12.
Chelsea Buckland, Oregon State's leading goal scorer from a year ago, has missed the entire spring exhibition season after being named to the Canadian FIFA Women's World Cup team.
