Tony Bryant Named To Stopper Of The Year Watch List

WICHITA, Kan. - Oregon State sophomore reliever Tony Bryant has been named to the midseason watch list for the Stopper of the Year Award as announced by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Thursday.
Bryant is one of 45 players named to the watch list, which is represented by 22 different conferences. He is one of two pitchers from the Pacific-10 Conference named to it, and is joined by Stanford's Chris Reed.
Bryant, who hails from Kennewick, Wash., has five of the team's 10 saves this season. He is 2-1 overall and sports a 1.65 earned run average, allowing just six earned runs in 32 2/3 innings. He has struck out 30 while walking just five and opponents are batting .234 against him.
Three of Bryant's five saves have come during Pacific-10 Conference play, with two over the past weekend in the Beavers' first-ever sweep at Stanford. He has allowed two earned runs in 7 2/3 innings (2.35 ERA) in league play.
Oregon State turns its sights to Washington State this week when the Beavers host the Cougars at Goss Stadium. Note, it is a series that runs Thursday through Saturday due to the Easter holiday occurring on Sunday.
First pitch Thursday and Friday is set for 5:35 p.m. PT. Saturday's first pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. and can be seen live on ROOT SPORTS and KEZI 9.2.
