Last Game
Kavin Keyes drove in three, Tyler Smith tallied two hits and the ninth-ranked Oregon State baseball team swept Stanford in California for the first time in school history with a 6-4 win Sunday afternoon over the 17th-ranked Cardinal at Sunken Diamond. Keyes finished off his hot weekend by going 2-for-4 with three RBI in Sunday's victory. He ended the series by going 6-for-11 with six RBI. Smith also had a big weekend for the Beavers, finishing it 5-for-9 after he went 2-for-2 with two walks on Sunday.
27-7 Is Big News
Oregon State's 27-7 record ties the 2005 and 2007 clubs for the most wins through 34 games in any given season in school history. The Beavers' 8-1 Pac-10 record is the best for the team since the Pac-10 unified in 1999.
Keyes Gets A Pac-10 Honor
Kavin Keyes is riding a 14-game hit streak into the series, tying Andrew Susac for the longest by a Beaver this season. Keyes is the reigning Pac-10 Player of the Week, giving OSU three this season, the most since 2001.
And A Nine-Game Win Streak
Oregon State takes a nine-game win streak into the series, which is the team's longest of the season. The Beavers won 12 straight from Feb. 27 to March 19. A 10-gamer would make OSU the nation's lone program with two 10-game-plus win streaks this season.
TV Saturday
Oregon State's second televised game of the 2011 season will take place on Saturday in a 2:05 p.m. start. The game can be seen on ROOT SPORTS and KEZI 9.2. For more information on coverage areas, visit osubeavers.com.
Notes Of Importance
OSU's nine-game win streak is tied for the nation's longest active streak with Valparaiso.
The Beavers have won eight straight league games, their longest such streak since winning nine straight in 2005.
OSU is the only Pac-10 club that has not allowed a stolen base during league play. Opponents are 0-for-5 in stolen-base attempts.
Tyler Smith has hit safely in five of his last six games, raising his average from .143 to .257 during that stretch.
The Beavers, as a team, have raised their batting average 12 points, from .266 to .278, during the nine-game win streak.
OSU's No. 3 ranking is the team's best since the 2007 club finished the season No. 1. That came after the second national title.
