Ryan Dunn Named Pac-10 Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon State junior infielder Ryan Dunn has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Player of the Week, commissioner Larry Scott announced Monday.
Dunn had an outstanding week for the Beavers as they went 4-0, sweeping No. 5 Arizona State for the first time since 1966. It was Oregon State's first ever sweep of the Sun Devils in Corvallis and pushed the Beavers to No. 9 in the Baseball America rankings.
Dunn had three multiple-hit games during the week, going 6-for-14 with three doubles, a home run and six RBI, all coming during the series with ASU.
Twice during the series, he put the Beavers up for good with doubles. The first opportunity came with a two-run double in the seventh Friday night that put OSU up 3-2. The Beavers scored four in the seventh and came away with the 5-3 victory.
In the Sunday game, he doubled again, this time to the left-center gap in the third, driving in two. It overcame a 5-4 deficit, put the Beavers up 6-5, and helped guide the club to a 9-6 win that have them the three-game series sweep.
Dunn had also homered in the second, a solo shot, his second of the season, to pull the Beavers to within one, 4-3.
The junior is hitting .292 on the year and has 14 RBI. In league play alone, through six games, he is hitting .409 with nine RBI. His slugging percentage of .818 ranks him third in the Pac-10.
The Pac-10 Player of the Week honor is the first for Dunn and the second for the Beavers this season. OSU now has 58 league player of the week honors, tying the Beavers with Washington for fourth among the league's schools. He is the 15th Beaver to earn the honor since the Pac-10 was unified in 1999.
Dunn and the ninth-ranked Beavers now set their sights on No. 17 Stanford. The three-game series at Sunken Diamond starts Friday night at 5:30 p.m. PT.
