Men's Golf Travels To Arizona For Wyoming Cowboy Classic

March 31, 2011
CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State men's golf team will compete in the 9th Annual Wyoming Cowboy Classic Monday and Tuesday at the Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament includes 20 teams at the par-70, 7,133-yard layout with two rounds on Monday and the final round on Tuesday. Team scoring will consist of counting the four best scores of each five-man team after each round.
"I think the team feels like this is an important week," Oregon State head coach Jon Reehoorn said. "It is our last event prior to the Pac-10 Championships. To this point in the season, we have really struggled to get five, and even four, guys all playing well at the same time. Our performance this coming week will have no bearing on how we perform in a few weeks at the Pac-10 Championship, but if we all play well, it might provide us with just the confidence we need to do some great things in the postseason."
The Beavers lineup will consist of juniors Alex Moore and Jonnie Motomochi, sophomore Nick Sherwood and freshmen David Fink and Travis Milleman.
"Travis will be making his first-ever start and I'm really excited for him; I think the entire team is," Reehoorn said. "After our play at the Duck Invitational, (assistant head coach) Tim Sundseth and I decided that we needed to have seven guys play for four spots this coming week and Travis earned his way into the lineup. He had the opportunity to get his feet we at the Duck Invitational as an individual and I'm confident that experience will help him this week.
There will be a 7:45 a.m. shotgun start both days and live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
