Field Set for NCAA Regional Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The 2011 National Collegiate Women's Gymnastics Championships regional selections were announced today by the NCAA.
Six teams, five all-around competitors (who are not on a qualifying team) and one individual event specialist per event [who has a minimum Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 9.4] were named to each of the six regions.
Joining No. 3 Oregon State (196.770 Regional Qualifying Score) at the Corvallis Regional will be No. 10 Nebraska (196.275), No. 15 Iowa (195.820), Southern Utah (194.925), San Jose State (194.525) and Michigan State (194.145).
The top-18 teams were seeded on a national basis, based on RQS. Teams 19-36 were assigned to a regional site based on geographic proximity. All-around competitors and event specialists were assigned within their respective regions.
The NCAA office conducted a draw to determine the rotation order for the competition, which follows: Michigan State begins on vault, San Jose State on a bye before uneven bars, Southern Utah begins on the bars, Nebraska begins on the balance beam, Iowa begins on a bye before floor exercise and Oregon State begins on the floor.
Individual all-around qualifiers for the 2011 NCAA Corvallis Regional Championships are: Alicia Asturias and Madisyn O'Brien from California, Alaina Baker and Shelly Cooper from Cal State Fullerton, and Marcy Miller from UC Davis.
Individual event at-large qualifiers are: vault - Anna Shumaker, UC Davis; bars - Dallas Crawford, California; beam - Lissa Zamolo, Sacramento State; and floor - Kailey Hansen, Sacramento State.
The Corvallis Regional begins at 4 p.m. with the top two finishers advancing to the NCAA Championships in Cleveland, Ohio April 15-17. Tickets for the regional meet can be purchased online as osubeavers.com, by calling 1-800-GO-BEAVS or at the OSU Ticket Office in room 107 of Gill Coliseum.
