Chas Davis begins his first season as volunteer assistant for the Oregon State women's cross country and track teams.
Davis spent the past three seasons as assistant men's and women's cross country and track coach at Creighton University. Last season, the men set a new 8,000-meter school record and earned the first All-Conference honors in school history after a runner finished 10th at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships. Overall, the team finished fourth at the MVC Championships and 13th at the Midwest Regional, marking the best finish in school history. He also coached one of the Bluejay women's runners to a new 5,000-meter school record (17:58), while also reaching third all-time on the 6,000-meter list.
During his career on the Creighton cross country team, he earned team most inspirational and most valuable runner awards as well as MVC Scholar-Athlete honors during the 2004 season while boasting PRs of 25:27 for 8k and 15:02 for 5000-meters on the track. He was also the 2004 CU/UNO Invitational individual champion.
Davis continues to train and compete while he pursues a career in coaching, having run 14:41 for 5000-meters on the track and 31:06 for 10k on the roads. He also won the 2007 Omaha Corporate Cup.
Davis is from Centennial, Colo., graduating Cum Laude from Creighton with a B.A. in public relations and news journalism in May of 2005.
