2004: Tarver comes to OSU with a reputation of being an outstanding athlete...he has an excellent opportunity to make an impact this season.
JESUIT: Tarver was a two-sport standout at Jesuit, also playing basketball...he was a SuperPrep All-American last season as a receiver, making 15 catches for 272 yards in just four games - missed most of the season with a broken finger...as a junior he had 32 receptions for 601 yards and scored 10 touchdowns...he also scored one touchdown on a kickoff return and one rushing.
PERSONAL: Son of John and Jean Tarver...John played three years as a fullback for the New England Patriots and one for the Philadelphia Eagles...Zach comes to OSU with Jesuit teammates Michael Jones (TB) and Slade Norris (SS)...he joins former Jesuit teammates already in the program John Dailey (PK) and Mike Hass (WR)...Zach's older brother, Shon Tarver, was a standout basketball player at UCLA (1991-94), helping the Bruins to four NCAA Tournament appearances...Shon hit a three-point basket with five seconds remaining Feb. 11, 1993 to propel the Bruins to a 76-75 victory over OSU at Pauley Pavilion...his sister, Taryn Tarver was a standout track athlete at Oregon...has two younger brothers, Josh and Seth...Josh is a senior four-year varsity basketball player and Seth is a junior who will be in his third year of varsity basketball...Zach intends to major in history.
