PERSONAL--Born 3/1/77 in Richmond, CA...his mother's name is Rosely Bond...has two brothers, Rodney, 23; and Hisha, 19...physical education major...enjoys basketball, running, going to movies and traveling...favorite athletes are Larry Bird, Chris Carter and Michael Irvin...being part of a 73-71 football game (Merced vs. Shasta junior college) has been his top athletic thrill...selected OSU because, "OSU wanted me the most. I felt real good about my situation at OSU. I could envision myself succeeding at OSU, on the field and gaining my degree."
OSU--(1999-Senior)--Imani will enroll at Oregon State fall term and he will report on August 9 with the rest of the newcomers...he will have one year of eligibility at Oregon State.
MERCED COLLEGE-- (1998)--No. 1 receiver in the nation among junior college players with 87 receptions in 1998...Imani was a first-team J.C. Grid-Wire All-America pick in 1998, a first-team JC Athletic Bureau All-America and a first-team JC Athletic Bureau All-State pick in Region II...he runs 4.45 in the 40...PrepStar Magazine JC All-America pick...in 10 games in 1998, he caught 87 passes (Merced school record) for 1,686 yards (National junior college record for receiving yards), an average of 19.6 yards per catch, and 17 touchdowns receiving...he had 18 touchdowns all told for 108 points...had 29 kickoff returns for 705 yards (24.3 avg.) and one 89-yard touchdown return...named Merced College Player-of-the-Year...named Don Odishoo Most Inspirational Player...named six times in 1998 as the California State Player-of-the-Week...first-team all-conference and CO-MVP of conference...had 2,394 all-purpose yards, an average of 239.40 per game, which was second among California Community College players...he had 3 yards rushing, 1,686 pass receiving and 705 yards on kickoff returns...led California Community College players in receptions with 87...tied for sixth among California community college players in scoring with 108 points...attended Butte College in 1996 and 1997, but did not play in 1997...played only in 1998 at Merced...was captain of the Merced team...also played safety and cornerback on defense when needed...had 9 solo tackles, 1 assisted tackle, 1 tackle for loss, 1 pass interception, 2 blocked field goals and 2 blocked PATs...set school record for all-purpose yards in a season with 2,394, and for 262 yards receiving in a game vs. College of Sequoias.. recruited by Oregon, San Jose State, New Mexico State.
LOS BANOS HIGH SCHOOL, Los Banos, CA--Imani graduated from Los Banos High School in 1995...Imani was a three-year starter in football at wide receiver and defensive back...also earned two letters in basketball and three in baseball as a center fielder and catcher...played football for Coach Don Toscaho...was a two-time all-league (Valley Oak League) selection in foot ball as a wide receiver...earned all-league honors in 1993 in basketball...earned all-state honors as a defensive back his senior year...played in the Lions All-Star football game in Stockton, CA in 1995...named the Player of the Year in the Merced Sun Star circulation area in 1995...as a junior, Imani caught 13 passes for 408 yards and 4 touchdowns, including a long run of 89 yards...he carried the ball 7 times for 192 yards (27.4 average), including a 75-yard touchdown run...caught 30 passes for 986 yards (32.9 average) and 11 touchdowns his senior year, including a 92-yard TD reception...carried the ball 21 times for 301 yards (14.3 average) as a senior for 3 touchdowns, including a long of 52 yards...on defense, Imani had 56 tackles as a junior with 3 interceptions...Imani had 98 tackles and 5 interceptions as a senior...his best overall game as a junior produced 150 yards rushing, 5 receptions for 170 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions against East Union High School...his best game as a senior was against Merril West High School (Tracy, CA) when he rushed for 109 yards and scored 2 touchdowns in a 13-10 victory...he blocked a kick and intercepted a pass in the same game.
