(1996-Redshirt Freshman)--Brandon's work ethic from the 1995 season carried over into the winter conditioning program...Brandon was one of the biggest surprises, if not the biggest, to come out of spring drills...his never say die attitude and play earned him a scholarship at the conclusion of spring drills and the No. 3 spot at middle linebacker on the depth chart at the conclusion of Spring drills...in addition, he was given No. 17, the number worn by OSU's all-Pac-10 linebacker Kane Rogers the previous five years...when Brandon reported to fall camp, his weight was up to 220 and he quickly moved up the ladder to No. 2 at Sam linebacker, plus Brandon participated on most of OSU's special team units...Brandon proved to be a real success story and may very well prove to be one of the better walk-on finds to attend OSU in many years...played in all 11 games, participating in 306 plays...produced a total of 40 defensive points during the year and his best game was against Montana when he totaled 16 defensive points...he is also an outstanding student and was rewarded at the conclusion of the season by being named honorable mention on the Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic team.
